NEWBERRY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Newberry County Coroner's Office said a homicide investigation is underway after a domestic incident on Wednesday.

Newberry City Police and the State Law Enforcement Division were called to Holloway Street in the early-morning hours after dispute between two brothers.

The coroner said one of the individuals involved in the incident, 48-year-old Mark Edward Graham, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual, identified as Joseph Lee Graham, was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

An autopsy was performed and the coroner said Mark Graham suffered asphyxia due to strangulation. His death was ruled a homicide.

Police said Joseph Graham suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound to the shoulder. They later determined he took his brother's life and said he will be charged with murder after he is released from Palmetto Health.

Brian Graham, brother to both the victim and suspect, said they are grieving both men.

"We suffered a great loss with two people in our family we may never see again," Brian Graham said. "We know at least one, my baby brother, we won't get to see anymore. He going to be gone and my older may be gone for life - we don't know yet."

The case remains under investigation by Newberry officers and SLED.
