Deputies identify man charged in Laurens Co. chase

CLINTON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Laurens County Sheriff's Office said a suspect was arrested after a pursuit on Wednesday.

Deputies were attempting to stop the suspect for traffic offenses when he fled the scene.

The driver was also driving under suspension, deputies said. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Laurens County Detention Center.

A large law enforcement presence was on scene near Main Street in Clinton where the suspect vehicle was being towed.

Officials with Laurens County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the suspect was 28-year-old Jermaine Antwain Abercrombie of Piedmont. 

According to the Laurens County Detention Center website, Abercrombie was charged with traveling up to 10 mph over the speed limit, driving under suspension, failure to stop for a blue light, being a habitual traffic offender, uninsured motor vehicle fee violation and reckless driving.
