Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, coroner team up to form Drug Abuse Task Force Committee

ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce said it has partnered with the coroner and other agencies to create a Drug Abuse Task Force Committee.

Monica Elmer, Events and Special Projects Coordinator for the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, said the Coroner Greg Shore began conducting committee meetings in October 2016.

The committee includes 23 people representing the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department, MedShore Ambulance Service, Anderson Mental Health Center, Family Promise of Anderson County, AnMed Health, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Palmetto Physical Medicine, and other businesses.

“The Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce's partnership with Mr. Shore as well as with other concerned residents and business owners in the county, are working to do some positive things in regards to spearheading the issues surrounding addiction and mental illness,” Elmer stated in an e-mail
