Police: Suspect arrested after 12-year-old boy reportedly hit with bat during robbery

UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Union police said one person was arrested Monday after a 12-year-old boy reported being robbed and hit with a baseball bat Saturday night.

Officers said the incident happened on Keenan Avenue.

The victim told police he was asleep at his grandfather’s house when he heard the front door fly open and two men entered. Per incident reports, both intruders were shirtless, had bandanas covering their faces, and were armed with baseball bats. One of the men reportedly struck the victim.

The robbers reportedly made off with a TV, several necklaces, a ring, and a small amount of cash.

The two suspects reportedly fled in a gray or silver car.

On Tuesday, police said one suspect, Joseph Lee Ridings had been arrested.

Ridings, 19, was charged with assault and battery first degree, armed robbery, burglary, and drug offenses.
