WESTMINSTER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office said two people were arrested after a chase on Monday.

Deputies responded to reports of a shoplifter at Belk's in Seneca. The suspect is accused of fleeing the scene in a vehicle with a paper tag in the window and refusing to pull over for a traffic stop.

A pursuit was initiated and deputies said they used stop sticks to try to apprehend the driver. The suspect continued to drive on rims before coming to a stop along Highway 76 near Lowery Streams Lane.

Deputies said a male and female inside the vehicle were arrested. When paramedics responded to the scene, the male suspect was transported to the hospital for treatment unrelated to the chase.

The female suspect has an outstanding bench warrant, deputies said.

Their names have not yet been released.
