The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said a Tennessee woman and a Seneca man were arrested Monday after a chase.

Deputies said the incident began in the Applewood Shopping Center near Seneca.

An investigator working a shoplifting case reportedly saw a man chasing a woman across the parking lot. Both got into a Dodge truck and deputies said the truck nearly struck several other cars as it was leaving.

The investigator attempted a traffic stop but the truck did not pull over, deputies said.
A chase began and entered Westminster and then onto Highway 76 toward Long Creek.
Deputies said the Dodge struck another car near the intersection of Highway 76 and Highway 123 but again refused to stop.

Deputies said the pursuit ended on Highway 76 near Lowery Streams Lane where both the man and the woman were taken into custody.

The suspects were identified as 23 year old Tiffany Rae Barfield of Henderson Avenue in Sevierville, TN and 24 year old Adam Joseph Reed of Hillside Lane in Seneca.

Deputies said Barfield was arrested on two outstanding General Sessions Bench Warrants regarding child neglect charges.

Reed was charged with failure to stop for blue light, reckless driving, and hit and run.
