GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

BringFido, the online dog-friendly vacation directory, said evacuees in Hurricane Irma's path are turning to the Greenville-based company for questions about their pets.

“People are calling for knowledge, expertise and help finding pet-friendly accommodation and shelters for themselves and their beloved pets after mandatory evacuations began in parts of Florida (Tuesday),” stated Wendy Huston, a spokesperson for BringFido.

Huston said BringFido's call center was being inundated with a record call volume, more than 6 times above average.

“BringFido has increased their Call Center staffing and is working with their expansive network of hotels/motels and Airbnbs throughout the Southeast, as Florida hotels begin to fill up,” Huston said.
