Deputies: Man arrested after pellet gun shooting at Spartanburg Co. motel

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County deputies said a man was arrested after a shooting involving a pellet gun at the Rodeway Inn on New Cut Road near I-26 Wednesday morning. According to deputies, David Anthony Statzer, 36, was arrested in connection with the incident. 

Deputies said the shooting occurred around 7:16 a.m. and stemmed from on ongoing disturbance that third shift deputies responded to earlier in the morning.

The incident reported stated that Statzer hit one of the victims in the shoulder, causing the victim to bleed. Deputies said the victim refused to be taken to the hospital. 

According to deputies, Statzer denied shooting the victims, but multiple witnesses were able to confirm he did shoot the victims. 

Statzer was charged and later released from the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
