McDonald’s tries going McVegan

(Meredith) -- McDonald’s is launching a trial product in Finland, and it’s a decidedly new venture for the burger-hawking mainstay of American culture.

The McVegan was unveiled at one restaurant in Tampere, Finland, on Thursday, and will be available until November 21, 2017, according to Food & Wine.

Looking at the picture of the new sandwich served up on the chain’s Finland website, the McVegan will have a single soy patty and the usual quarter pounder toppings, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. It’s a vegan burger, so don’t expect to get cheese.

And you can get fries with that, even if you’re fully vegan. Veggie Athletic reports that all McDonald’s fries served in Finland are vegan.

Combined with the recent changes to McDonald’s Happy Meals, it seems the fast food king may be trying to meet the demands of more health conscious customers. If Finnish customers are just lovin’ the McVegan, we could see the new vegan burgers hitting the U.S. sometime soon.
