Spartanburg fire chief says suspicious fire at vacant home under investigation

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Spartanburg Fire Department responded to the scene of a suspicious fire on Monday.

Crews along with firefighters from Northside, Southside, Hilltop and Whitney fire departments were called to the fire at a vacant home on Mill Street near College Street around 2 p.m.

Fire chief Marion Blackwell said the fire broke out on the back porch of the home and the back door was locked. A number of lighters were found in the area, according to Blackwell.

No one was injured in the incident.
