LAURENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Students and staff saw some new faces in the halls of Laurens County District 55 schools on Tuesday, as community members took over as principals for the day!

FOX Carolina also got to take part in the fun. Sarah Danik shadowed the principal of Laurens District 55 High School, Chris Moore.

Moore told us, "A high school this size, there's so many amazing things going on. Our technology department, the arts, and academics. I think that sometimes people will get an idea of, you know, the high school experience that they had may not be the thing that their students are experiencing now."

Sarah was one of ten members of the community who took part in the "Principal for the Day" event.

It was the second year the district has done this and it allows for outsiders to see what really goes on during the day at schools in the district.

FOX Carolina got to see what's working and what some of the challenges are that school leaders face.

Lynne Todd is the Parenting and Volunteer Coordinator for Laurens County District 55.  She told us it is a plus for the entire community.

"We just hope that everybody enjoys their day and just gets involved with the school district."

The morning wrapped up with a lunch, where all the "Principals for a Day" shared how their day went.

Other "Principals" included representatives of Laurens Electric Co-op, Milliken and the Laurens County Sheriff's Office, to name a few.
