ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Anderson Police Department said a man is facing charges after he entered a Dollar General with a revolver.

Officers said the incident occurred on Oct. 24 around 8:43 p.m. at the store on North Main Street.

Police said the suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Clarence Ray Taylor, entered the store with a silver revolver. According to the incident report, the clerk told officers Taylor pulled out the gun and asked if he could have a can of soup that was on sale outside the store.

Officers said when the clerk told him no, he fumbled with the gun and walked out. Investigators reviewed surveillance video of the incident and said it is unclear if any soup was actually taken.

He was arrested and charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
