The owners of a basketball academy in South Carolina have been arrested and charged with making false statements to obtain visas.
Federal court records show 48-year-old Michael Rawson and 47-year-old Brenda Rawson have been indicted on charges of fraud and misuse of visas and conspiracy to defraud the United States.
They own 22ft Academy in Anderson.
Michael Rawson is a citizen of the United Kingdom and Brenda Rawson is a citizen of the Netherlands.
Michael Rawson's attorney would not talk about the charges.
Indictments say Brenda Rawson told the students "to lie" if they were questioned about the academy's operations and their living conditions.
Anderson County sheriff's investigator Ben Cothran said living conditions at the academy were "marginal." Cothran said the students were staying in a renovated barn.
