Trey Gowdy resigns from House Ethics Committee

Representative Trey Gowdy resigned from the House Ethics Committee after serving as a member for five years. 

In a letter to Speaker Paul Ryan, Gowdy said he was resigning due to a "challenging workload."

In the letter, Rep. Gowdy said he would remain on the committee until his replacement was found. 

The letter was presented on the House floor on Thursday.
