US 221 shut down again in McDowell Co. after crash involving 2 tractor trailers

NEBO, NC (FOX Carolina) -

McDowell County Emergency Management urged drivers to stay off the roads if possible Wednesday morning due to hazardous conditions.

Shortly before 9 a.m., officials said multiple crashes and stranded motorists were being reported across the county.

Crashes shut down US 221 near Polly Spout Road and Sugar Hill Road near the Pilot Station. At 11:30 a.m. officials said both US 221 and Sugar Hill Road had reopened.

Just after noon, officials said US 221 was once again shut down near Polly Sprout Road due to a new crash involving two tractor trailers.
