Police: Man arrested and charged in Anderson shooting

ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Authorities were called to the scene of a shooting in the city of Anderson on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Anderson Police Department, a male victim in his early 30's was shot at a location on Miracle Mile Drive around 1:20 p.m. Anderson County SWAT assisted at the scene.

The suspect, described as a male likely between his late teens and early 20's, was detained after SWAT located an individual that fit the suspect description, while they were training nearby.

Police said Jerry Lee Spence was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Spence is expected to appear in bond court Friday morning.

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office said Spence was previously arrested in September 2017 for carjacking a homeless man. Deputies said Spence used pepper spray to force his way into the vehicle. 

Spence is expected to appear in bond court Friday morning.
