Police: Suspect in custody after fatal stabbing near Asheville apartments

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Asheville Police Department is investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Sunday morning.

Officers say the call came in at 10:31 a.m. that a person had been stabbed near the Pigsah View Apartments located on Granada Street.

Police identified the victim as 39-year-old Justin Paul Digiacomo. 

When officers arrived they found Digiacomo suffering from a stab wound to the upper torso. He was transported to Mission Hospital where he later succumbed to injuries. 

Police said warrants were issued on 53-year-old Cecil Amrbroise Thorpe for second degree murder. Officers said Thorpe is considered armed and dangerous. 

Around 8:15 p.m., police said Thorpe had been located and taken into custody. 

The investigation is ongoing.
