Generally seasonable late January weather is expected this week after a rainy Monday night.
Temperatures will reach the mid 50s to low 60s today, and rain becomes possible generally after sunset. A few showers could show up in the mountains and northern Upstate prior to 6 PM.
The best chance of rain arrives after 9 PM and lasts into the overnight. Some pockets of locally heavy rain and rumbles of thunder are possible, but the severe weather threat remains low.
That being said, pockets of gusty wind are possible as this batch of rain moves through.
A wind advisory is in effect until 4 AM Tuesday for parts of western NC above 3500 ft. for wind gusts to approach 45-55 mph.
The rest of the week looks quiet with highs generally in the 50s and mornings starting near freezing.
The next chance of rain arrives over the weekend; for now, it looks like early Sunday might be the best time to see wet weather.
