EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Easley Police said a collision occurred after a short chase on Sunday.

Officers said they began pursuing the suspect vehicle after it pulled out in front a police cruiser, nearly hitting it.  Police said they attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the suspect sped off from the scene.

The suspect, identified as Christopher Smith, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the collision, officers said. On Thursday police confirmed he had been transported to the Easley jail.

Smith is charged with DUI - second offense, failure to stop for blue lights - second offense and driving under suspension.

His bond was set at $10,000 in a hearing at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
