Furman University police are looking for information about a crucifix and other items stolen from the Charles E. Daniel Memorial Chapel.

The university’s Chaplain, Dr. Vaughn CroweTipton, said it happened sometime between the end of October and  the end of November.

He said students were setting up for a church service when they noticed the crucifix, two paraments, a table runner, and a peace pole were taken.

Police posted flyers around campus and even checked pawn shops, but they have yet to turn up.

CroweTipton believes multiple people could be involved as the crucifix alone stands a 7-feet tall and is quite heavy.

“In 15 years I've never had anything like this happen” CroweTipton said.

He said it would be common for anyone to just walk into the chapel and not be questioned.

CroweTipton also mentioned that the items stolen weren’t cheap but can’t imagine anyone getting a lot of money for them.

If you have any information you can call Furman Police or CrimeStoppers are 23-CRIME.
