GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greer Police Department said a man is facing multiple charges after a fire was set at a home with multiple children on Saturday.

Officers said 24-year-old Equevious Drummond was involved in an argument with his girlfriend regarding her leaving him. He returned to her home on McNeely Circle and tried to make contact with her, but police said when she refused to communicate with him, he set a shirt she gave him on fire outside the home.

The fire then spread to the residence, police said.

Drummond told officers he set the shirt on fire because he was upset but didn't mean for it to spread to the residence.

Police said six children were inside the home, ranging from ages 11 months to 9 years old. A woman with an oxygen tank was also inside and a "no smoking" sign is on the door of the home due to this risk.

Drummond was arrested and charged with second-degree arson, domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, two counts of child neglect and second-degree domestic violence.
