WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office said three suspects have been arrested after a man said he was beaten with a two-by-four earlier in January.

Deputies were called to Oconee Memorial Hospital on Jan. 3 after a victim with extensive injuries was admitted to the hospital. The victim had visible wounds and blood-stained clothing.

A bystander who helped the victim said he emerged from the woods near Crowes Roost Road, "covered in blood" and barely able to speak.

En route to the hospital, deputies said the victim told the man he had been beaten with a two-by-four. He was later transferred to Greenville Memorial Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.

After an investigation, deputies said they determined that three suspects, 39-year-old Brandy Michelle Whitt, 19-year-old Cameron Joe Gibson and 18-year-old Joseph Brandon Cobb, made entry to a home on Crowes Roost Road after the victim would not allow them inside.

Deputies said Gibson and Cobb assaulted the victim while inside.

Arrest warrants indicate the suspects beat the victim with a stick and kicked him about his head and body. He suffered major contusions and broken ribs, the warrants state.

Gibson and Cobb are both charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and first-degree burglary.

Whitt was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary and accessory after the fact.
