SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police said a 27-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder after a knife assault Tuesday night.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. at the Norris Ridge Apartments on Norris Street.

Police said they arrived to find the victim covered in blood. The victim told them nothing had happened and refused medical treatment. Police said she had a knife wound to her shoulder.

Police said they took the suspect, Brittany Butler, out of the apartment to speak with her and when a neighbor asked what had happened, she responded, “"I'm going to jail, I know I am because I stabbed her," per police incident reports. Police said the statement was captured on body camera.

Police said Butler provided a written statement claiming that she was first attacked by the victim after the two got into an argument. Butler told police she and the victim had been involved with multiple scuffles throughout the apartment before the knife attack took place in the kitchen.
