FOUNTAIN INN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Laurens County Animal Control says two dogs and a puppy were removed from a home after other abused and deceased dogs were discovered on the property.

Animal Control said they received a call regarding a dog running loose with a food container stuck on its head on Monday. They removed the food container and began talking to neighbors about other animals on the property.

According to animal control, they found two dogs that were chained up and appeared to be starved to death.

A 3 month old puppy that was underweight and a one-year-old dog that was 20 pounds underweight were also found on the property, the agency said.

Animal Control said when they returned to the property, the deceased dogs had been taken to a different area and set on fire.

The homeowners' son and at least two other people were breeding dogs, animal control said.

According to animal control, the puppy is with a rescue group and the two dogs are in their care.

The case has been handed over to the sheriff's office.
