GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Ivanka Trump arrived in Greenville on Friday morning for a private event hosted by Sen. Tim Scott that will highlight tax reform.

Sen. Scott and Ivanka Trump, President Trump's adviser and daughter, discussed the new tax reform bill with Upstate women. About 200 women were invited to attend the event Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Poinsett Hotel. The invite-only event was not open to the public.

Among talk of the bill, the pair also discussed the expanded credit for those with children and women's roles in leadership.

Scott commended Trump's involvement in doubling the child tax credit, saying "Ivanka has a strong, powerful backbone."

Scott also said he thinks Congress is in a "very good position" to reach a budget deal by the Feb. 8 deadline that includes agreement on DACA and border security.

The Greenville Police Department said people would see a much larger police presence downtown Friday due to the event. The police department said its dignitary team, which assisted the Secret Service with President Trump's visit in October, would be handling Friday's visit. Police said road closures are likely near the hotel on South Main Street during the visit, but all downtown traffic will not be affected.

On Friday morning, Ivanka Trump posted on Twitter saying it was great to be in Greenville. She landed at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport shortly before 10 a.m.

According to Coffee Underground employee Rebecca Robins, Ivanka stopped in the East Coffee Street cafe around 10:20 a.m. for a cappuccino. Robins shared a photo posing with the First Daughter.

Before heading to the hotel, Coffee Underground said Trump stopped by the cafe on coffee street. Employees said she stopped in around 10:30 a.m. and was very nice. Trump enjoyed a cappuccino and snapped a few photos with people before she left.

Sen. Tim Scott also took to Twitter, saying he was excited to welcome Ivanka Trump to the state and to speak about tax reform.

A protest group, Indivisible SC 4, had members stage a protest outside the hotel before and during Trump's visit. Some carried signs calling from Pres. Trump to release his tax returns.

Below is a portion of a news release the group released Friday morning:

Local Resistance Organization, Indivisible SC 4, will protest the planned visit from Ivanka Trump and Sen. Tim Scott to Greenville, SC on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm on the plaza outside of The Westin Poinsett in downtown Greenville, SC.

The group will host the protest for all persons interested in raising their voices against the Trump Administration’s ‘War on Women’, the GOP ‘Tax Scam’, and in support of the DREAMERS who are being uncompassionately cast aside by this administration.
