On Jan. 25, 2015, Cobey Smith, 16, was found fatally shot on a paved area of the Sliding Rock Creek Greenway trail between the Sterling School and the Heritage apartment community, where Smith lived.

"We want to make sure that they get that other piece to put these people behind bars," he said.

Greenville Police said the investigation into the shooting death is still active, and are continuing to follow-up on leads.

"There's a picture of him hanging in our Violent Crimes office," said Detective Sgt. Melissa Lawson.  "We look at his picture every single day, and we will not take it down until the case is solved."
