MOUNTAIN REST, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Oconee County fire chief said one person was flown by medical helicopter to the Augusta Burn Center after a building caught fire Thursday morning.

Chief Charlie King said firefighters were called to Cassidy Bridge Road in the Mountain Rest area just after 9 a.m.

“Firefighters arrived on scene within minutes to find a workshop well involved in fire with one individual injured,” King stated in an e-mail. “As fire crews worked to bring the fire under control, medical personnel treated the individual on scene prior to being flown by helicopter to the Jim Still Burn Center in Augusta, Ga.”

King said firefighters were able to get control of the fire in about 25 minutes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
