SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The SC Highway Patrol and Spartanburg County Coroner are investigating a fatal collision involving a moped Friday night.

Troopers say the collision occurred on US 221 near Mary Road at approximately 10:53 p.m.

The driver on the moped and another driver in a Honda Sedan were headed south on US 221 when troopers say the driver in the Honda struck the driver on the moped.

The driver on the moped was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and was pronounced dead on scene, troopers confirm. The coroner later identified the driver as 49-year-old David Edward Eubanks of Spartanburg.

The driver in the Honda was not injured.

At this time, the collision remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
