SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County deputies said a man was charged after his employer discovered he stole a book of lottery tickets from a gas station.

Deputies said the owner of the 7 Eleven on Reidville Road contacted them in December after she discovered evidence of the theft on surveillance cameras and notified the SC Education Lottery.

The owner told deputies that five winning tickets ban been scanned and 25 others were unaccounted for from the stolen roll.

According to an arrest warrant, the theft occurred on or around November 1.

David Gerhard was arrested and charged with breach of trust and 11 counts of lottery tampering, according to Spartanburg County jail records.
