LAVONIA, GA (FOX Carolina) -

The Lavonia Police Department is investigating a robbery at a liquor store on Monday morning.

According to police, a suspect in a black jumpsuit and a motorcycle helmet entered the Downtown Beverage store on Jones Street around 9 a.m. and demanded money from a clerk.

The suspect forced the victim to the floor during the incident and made a motion to make the victim believe he was armed, officers said.

The suspect fled behind the store with a large quantity of cash, investigators said after reviewing video surveillance. Video was released showing the suspect attacking the clerk during the incident.

Police said Christopher Kevin McIntosh was charged with armed robbery in connection with the incident. McIntosh has a listed address on Liberty Hill Church Road in Hartwell, and should be considered armed and dangerous, officers said.

On Tuesday, officers said McIntosh was taken into custody. They thanked Hartwell Police Department, Hart County Sheriff's Office and the Toccoa Police Department for their help in making the arrest.

The liquor store is located across the street from the police station.

The owner of Downtown Beverage said the victim is recovering at home.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Lavonia Police Department.
