GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An Upstate resident captured a rare weather phenomenon during Tuesday night's sunset.

Greenwood residents Tom and Jennifer Donlon were leaving work and noticed something unusual when looking at the sunset.

The Donlons saw a funnel cloud in the sunset.

The funnel cloud was in the sky for 8-10 minutes, Donlon said.

The National Weather Service said the cloud is a phenomenon known as cold air-funnel. According to the NWS, cold-air funnels are extremely rare, especially for this area.
