Police: Man found shot at Asheville Bojangles was fugitive wanted from Tennessee

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Asheville police said a man who officers found shot at the Bojangles on Long Shoals Road Wednesday night was arrested after they discovered he was fugitive wanted for several crimes in Tennessee.

Police said they found Windell Lamont Morgan, 20, suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg around 8:30 p.m. Morgan was taken to the hospital and treated for the injury.

While he was at the hospital, police said they learned Morgan had fugitive warrants for domestic assault, vandalism, drug possession, drug paraphernalia possession, two counts of evading arrest, and failure to appear in court.

Police said Morgan attempted to escape from the ER but was quickly apprehended by officers. He is currently being held at the Buncombe County Detention Center on a $20,000 fugitive warrant awaiting extradition to Tennessee.
