Coroner identifies victim of fatal Pickens Co. crash

PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Pickens County Deputy Coroner Gary Duncan has identified the victim of a Friday morning crash.

The victim was identified as 76-year-old Phillip Ray James of Liberty. 

The collision occurred at 10:51 a.m. on Steward Gin Road, troopers said. 

According to Highway Patrol, a 2007 Ford truck struck James' vehicle on the side as he entered Steward Gin Road from a private driveway. 

Troopers said James was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extracted.  He was seatbelted, troopers said. 

Deputy Coroner Duncan said James was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway Patrol said the other driver was not injured in the collision.
