GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

One person was transported to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation following a house fire in Greenville County early Saturday morning, per fire officials.

The Slater Marietta Fire Chief said two people were inside the home located on Chestnut Ridge Road when a fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. The two occupants were a grandfather and grandson, he said.

The grandfather was transported to the hospital. The grandson had no injuries.

The fire was deemed a total loss, the chief said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Red Cross is assisting the family.

The North Greenville and River Falls Fire Departments assisted with the blaze.
