SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Police say a female was struck twice by gunfire in Spartanburg Saturday night.

The incident happened on the 100 block of Kensington Drive.

Officers say they responded to the scene for a call of shots fired and were advised that a female was struck twice in the upper back. When they arrived on scene they made contact with the victim who they say was in the apartment laying face down on the couch as another female applied pressure to the two gunshot wounds to her back.

Officers also located several shell casings and a burgundy Kia with a shattered rear window.

Investigators then got an account from the witnesses. One of the witnesses said they were standing outside of the Kia with three friends when the shooting took place and the victim was struck.

The female who was shot was transported to the hospital by EMS. Her condition is unknown at this time.

No further details were released.
