Police: Victim in stable condition after shooting at Asheville apartment complex; suspect detained

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Officers with the Asheville Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at Hillcrest Apartments early Sunday morning.

Officers say the call came in at approximately 3:30 a.m. The apartments are located on Atkinson Street.

Upon arrival, investigators located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was then transported to Mission Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. Shortly before 11 a.m., police said the victim was in stable condition.

One suspect who fled the scene when officers arrived has been detained. No further details were released on that suspect.
