GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville city officials said maintenance work on the Liberty Bridge will begin Tuesday.

Officials said construction crews from an Illinois firm will be drilling new abutment cap holes for the bridge in Falls Park on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Once the work is complete, the existing plastic abutment caps on the bridge will be replaced by galvanized steel caps.

This will be the first of several routine maintenance improvements to the bridge that officials said will be made in the coming months.
