GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The new Gaffney Police Chief was named during a City Council meeting Monday evening.

At the council meeting, all council members voted yes to have Chris Skinner take the position.

Skinner has been with the police force for over 30 years. A citizen spoke during the council meeting about a Facebook group for Skinner, saying the community was for him becoming the new police chief.

Former Gaffney Police Chief Richard E. Turner retired at the end of 2017 after 31 years of service.
