Coroner identifies elderly man killed by vehicle backing up at fast food restaurant

GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville County Coroner's Office has identified an elderly man who died after a collision in a parking lot in January.

The coroner said on Jan. 26, 84-year-old James Edward Brehm was at the Bojangles on West Wade Hampton Boulevard when he was hit by a vehicle backing up in the parking lot.

Family members said Brehm was walking from his vehicle, which was parked in a handicap space, to the door.

Brehm was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he passed away due to blunt force head trauma on Feb. 2.

The case remains under investigation by Greer City Police and the coroner's office. His death was rule accidental.
