GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Kanya Johnson and her two boys are one step closer to their brand new home thanks to the students at Riverside High School.

On Thursday, the family helped raise the first wall of their house about to be built under the Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County program.

The Greer residence was financially supported because of the work Riverside High School students during last October's Spirit Week.

According to Habitat Greenville, the average cost of constructing a Habitat House is approximately $70,000 and the students were able to raise $100,000 in one week.

The Johnson's will still have to pay to live in the home but they will finally have a house with an affordable mortgage.
