GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A 28-year-old Greenwood man will be spending the next 18 years in prison for sexually abusing a young girl, Eighth Circuit Solicitor David Stumbo said Thursday.

Stumbo said Tremaine Vantrell Daniels pleaded guilty Wednesday afternoon to two counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

The judge sentenced Daniels to 18 years in prison followed by 18 months of probation.

Daniels forced the victim to perform sexual acts during the summer of 2013 and threatened her with the “worst butt-whooping of her life” if she told anyone, Stumbo said.

The victim told her teacher, who then called DSS.

“We will continue to be relentless in the pursuit of justice for children in this community who have their innocence ripped away by sexual predators,” Stumbo stated in a news release. “It is my prayer that this conviction and sentence will allow this brave young lady, who was senselessly victimized by Tremaine Daniels, some measure of peace and closure moving forward.”
