ARDEN, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says a suspect fled into the woods after a chase in Buncombe County Thursday night.

Troopers said they attempted to stop a vehicle on I-240 for a speeding violation of 92 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour speed zone. The driver failed to stop and led the trooper on a chase from I-240 to I-26, Highway Patrol said.

According to troopers, the suspect then pulled into a parking lot off NC 191, exited the vehicle, and fled into the woods on foot.

The suspect has not yet been located, troopers said.

Highway Patrol said they are working to identify the suspect and obtain charges for the chase.
