WOODRUFF, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said a man was arrested early Monday morning after a stabbing led to a car crash and an hours-long SWAT standoff in Woodruff.

The Sheriff's Office said around 1 p.m., several deputies responded to Varner Road to assist a fire department at the scene of a possible crash. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies discovered the female driver of the vehicle had been stabbed in the abdomen, causing her to wreck the vehicle.

The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where she underwent surgery for her injuries. Deputies say the victim's prognosis is good at this time.

The victim and several witnesses on scene identified her attacker. The witnesses had seen the suspect go into a home on Varner Road.

Deputies said they surrounded the residence and SWAT responded to the scene as well.

The Sheriff's Office said communication was initially established with the suspect until he stopped talking to officers.

After several hours, deputies said SWAT made forcible entry into the house, but the suspect was not located.

Our FOX Carolina crew that arrived on scene around 9:45 said deputies instructed him to stay inside his vehicle because they'd heard a gunshot right before he arrived.

Deputies said at 12:20 a.m. Monday that with the assistance of several citizens, the suspect had been located and arrested without incident in the Miller Road area of Woodruff.

He was identified as Bobby Ray Brown, II, 41, of Woodruff. Today is his birthday, said deputies.

Brown has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Brown went before a judge during a bond hearing Monday morning. The judge set a bond amount at $20,000 and set a preliminary hearing date for April.
