MARSHALL, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The North Carolina Highway Patrol was called to a fatal crash on Monday.

Troopers confirmed a fatality in the collision on Highway 213 in Madison County. According to Highway Patrol, 53-year-old Laurie Allison Fraser of Marshall was on her way to work at Mars Hill University when the crash occurred.

Fraser's Kia Spectra clipped the back right of a tractor-trailer moving into a turn lane, causing her vehicle to overturn, troopers said. She was ejected from the car and died on scene.

No violations were found with the tractor-trailer after an inspection, troopers said.

An inspection will be done on Fraser's vehicle Tuesday, but troopers said at this time it appears no charges will be filed.

A spokesperson for Mars Hill University confirmed Fraser was an employee of Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services and worked on campus.

Below is a statement from MHU President Dan Lunsford:

“We are very saddened to learn of the passing of Ms. Fraser, who was a valued part of the team that helps make Mars Hill a home for our students and the rest of the campus community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends in this difficult time.”
