PAULINE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Officials with Croft Fire Department said an Upstate family was displaced after a house fire in Pauline on Wednesday.

Fire officials said the fire started at a residence along Foster Mill Circle.

Glenn Springs-Pauline was the main department on scene, but was assisted by other departments, including Croft, Roebuck, Woodruff and Pacolet, said fire officials.

Fire Chief Brent Peeler with Glenn Springs Fire Department said the cause of the fire is still undetermined, but the home is a total loss.

Fire officials said three people lived in the home, including a mother and her son. They were in bed when the fire started, but officials say they managed to get out just in time.

Officials say there were fire detectors in the home, but they were not operational.
