Police: Drug trafficker with ties to Mexican cartel arrested in Seneca

SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Seneca Police Department said one of two men arrested during a traffic stop on Thursday morning has ties to a Mexican drug cartel.

Officers said in the early-morning hours, they responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

During the stop, police said they found 50-year-old Mickey Cox and 52-year-old Terry Langston in possession of a pound of methamphetamine and several handguns. Investigators estimated the street value of the drugs at $40,000.

The police department said Cox is a suspected drug trafficker with ties to the Mexican cartel and was being sought by the Oconee County Sheriff's Office on multiple drug charges.

Cox is charged with possession with intent to distribute within proximity of a school, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a stolen gun, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a weapon while in commission of a crime.

Langston is charged with possession of a schedule IV substance, possession with intent to distribute within proximity of a school, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession of a stolen gun.
