More near-record heat is on the way for today, then temperatures drop and rain moves in for this weekend. Mild air settles in next week with more rain chances.
Today will be mostly cloudy mixed with sun at times as showers push into western NC in the afternoon, then very spotty showers for the Upstate during the late afternoon and evening. Expect wind gusts up to 25-30 mph at times as well.
Afternoon highs once again will reach the 70s, nearing 80 or possibly exceeding 80 degrees in a few spots in the Upstate. Record highs will once again be in jeopardy, depending on how much sun breaks through the clouds and the speed of the incoming cold front.
Said cold front will pass through this evening, dropping temps for Saturday and ushering in some showers. Highs will remain in the 40s to near 50 degrees with off and on rain through Saturday. Temperature rebounds back to the 60s Sunday as rain moves out.
Mild air sticks around next with no signs of major cold anywhere! A small rain chance on Monday and Tuesday increases toward mid-week.
