ABBEVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Abbeville County Sheriff Ray Watson said a bomb threat was made against  Abbeville High School Friday morning and the suspect has been taken into custody.

The high school football team advised students via Twitter Friday morning not to come to school because a security situation was being addressed.

The Abbeville Panthers twitter account posted the message at 7:46 a.m.

"I was about to go and get in my car," explained Sophomore Coleton Grounsell, "I get a phone call from my best friend and they were like dude, don't go to school. There might be a bomb."

“Attention students please do not come to the High School at this time,” it read. “There is a security situation that is being addressed. You will be advised when to come to the school.”

The city of Abbeville said the bomb threat was made on social media just after 7 a.m. A student shared a Snapchat image with a bomb emoji and the text "Don't come to school tomorrow."

Abbeville High School students were sent to Wright Middle School  while canines and bomb teams swept the building. The city said the building was cleared and the evacuation was lifted at 9:13 a.m.

The school district said all students and staff are safe and schools are operating on a normal schedule.

A FOX Carolina photojournalist said all appeared normal at the school when he arrived just after 10 a.m.

"After everything that's gone on like Broome and Florida it's just like, what's next ?" questioned Grounsell, "Makes you think a lot. You cant feel safe sometimes when you go to school. It's just crazy."

No other details were immediately available.

FOX Carolina is working to get additional details.
