GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenwood School District 50 says a parent accidentally left a concealed weapon in their vehicle while it was on school property.

The district said the parent brought their vehicle to the Russell Technology Center for repairs and mistakenly left the concealed weapon in the glove compartment.

According to the district, the parent contacted their child about the weapon and immediately notified a teacher and school administration.

Law enforcement was contacted and the weapon was secured, the district said.

The parent has a concealed weapon permit, the district stated.

“We appreciate the parent and student reporting the incident and the school administration working with law enforcement to swiftly address the situation,” Superintendent Darrell Johnson said.
