The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said a man is charged with murder in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend.

Spartanburg County deputies said they responded to a call about a possible shooting on El Camino Real around 8:20 a.m. on Sunday.

The coroner identified the victim as 25-year-old Daeshawn Shahree Brown of Moore, who was pronounced dead in the Spartanburg Regional Emergency Center.

Deputies said a K-9 track was attempted to find a suspect, but was unsuccessful.

On Monday morning, deputies said 24-year-old Andrew Ryan Murphy was arrested in the case. Murphy is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Deputies said the motive for the shooting appeared to be "anger over the victim being his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend."

Murphy appeared in bond court at 2 a.m. on Monday morning where a judge denied bond.

According to a background check, Murphy had multiple prior convictions for domestic violence.
